Cereal4all Teams Up with IB Exhibition Project On Childhood Hunger in Palm Beach County, FL

Cereal4all loves inspiring team ups! This April, we felt honored to be part of a special project at Morikami Park Elementary School in Delray Beach, FL.

Ms. Alyssa Harris’s 5th grade class is engaged in a yearlong IB exhibition project on Childhood Hunger. They’re studying the effects of childhood hunger and food insecurity on communities and searching for solutions.

As part of their project, the class teamed up with Cereal4all and organized an epic food drive that raised 1,528 pounds of breakfast food for food-insecure families served by the Boca Helping Hands food bank. That’s the equivalent of 15,000 bowls of cereal!

Ms. Harris’s class also invited us to speak to them about how young people can use innovative approaches to take a more active role in the fight against hunger. We also led the class in a special in-school volunteer session packing backpack boxes with meals that will be distributed by Boca Helping Hands to students across Palm Beach County who face a shortage of weekend meals at home.

Cereal4all also earmarked $100 for the class to donate to a hunger-relief nonprofit of their choice. They chose the amazing Feeding South Florida food bank, where the class also did a volunteer session sorting food donations.

We’re truly inspired by the class’s dedication to addressing such an important problem in our country. Every one of the students shows real compassion for less fortunate people in their community. Proud to be part of it!
