Details about the program…

How does the program work?

  • Cereal4all offers 10 community service hours for our Student Ambassador Program because you’re actively helping us strengthen the two key parts of our mission: Fighting Hunger & Encouraging Youth Volunteerism
  • We will award 10 service hours to each student who completes all four steps of the program:
                1. Volunteer session at a local food bank
➛The volunteer session must be a minimum of 2 hours
➛You’ll sign up to volunteer through your local food bank’s online portal
➛After you sign up for a session, please email the confirmation to FightHunger@cereal4all.org
➛See the Summer Mode section below for instructions on finding a food bank near you
             2. Cereal donation
➛Donate 3 or more regular-sized boxes of low-sugar cereal or instant oatmeal to the food bank on your volunteer day (each volunteer needs to make their own cereal donation)
              3. Photos
➛Get a good photo of you or your group actively volunteering in the food bank and also get a photo of the group holding your cereal donations with the food bank or its signage in the background. Make sure everyone is together in the same photo (and smiling too:). Here are some example photos.
➛Email your volunteer photos to FightHunger@cereal4all.org
➛Your photos will help Cereal4all verify your volunteer time & cereal donation
➛Cereal4all will post your photos with the goal of inspiring other students to follow your example. We strongly believe in the importance of encouraging more young people to volunteer in their communities.

    4. Your input

➛When you complete the steps above, we’ll send you a questionnaire about your volunteer experience
Your answers will help Cereal4all strengthen our mission and interaction with future volunteers

Make sure your school approves Cereal4all as a service organization

  • Cereal4all is an official 501c3 nonprofit organization. We’re listed on nonprofit verification websites like Candid. Our EIN is 88-3360884.
  • Every school has different ways of approving activities for service hours, so it’s up to you to ensure your school will approve the community service hours from Cereal4all
Some other things…
  • After you complete all four steps of the program, Cereal4all will provide you with any service hours documentation you need
  • We’ll also include you as a Student Ambassador on our nonprofit’s Our Team page if you choose. You can be featured individually or with your whole group.
  • Cereal4all will also make a $30 donation to your local food bank in honor of your volunteer work (if you’re the first student to volunteer there in the past two months)

🌞 Summer Mode — You Can Get Started Right Now

Cereal4all is in summer mode and our team has limited availability. But here’s the good news: you don’t need to wait for us. Most students find their food bank on their own in about 10 minutes — and you can too.

🗺️ Find a Food Bank Near You

On a computer:

  1. Go to maps.google.com
  2. Enter your home or school address
  3. Click “Nearby” and search “food bank”
  4. Click through results to find one with a website and volunteer opportunities

On your phone: simply search “food bank near me” in Google Maps or Apple Maps.

✅ Important: Only Volunteer at Feeding America Affiliated Food Banks

Feeding America is America’s largest hunger-relief network and their member food banks are active, well-organized, and set up to welcome student volunteers. Before signing up, make sure the food bank displays the Feeding America logo on their homepage. You can also search directly at feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank to find verified member food banks in your area.

📋 Once You Find A Food Bank — Next Steps

  1. Visit the food bank’s website and find the Volunteer section
  2. Browse their volunteer calendar — Food Sorting and Packing sessions are great options
  3. Check age requirements — some sessions require a parent if you’re under 16
  4. Register through their online volunteer portal
  5. Sign up for a session — popular ones fill fast, so don’t wait
  6. Forward the food bank’s confirmation of your scheduled session to FightHunger@cereal4all.org
  7. During your volunteer session, complete Steps 2 and 3 of the program (cereal donation & photos)
  8. Once Steps 1–3 are complete, Cereal4all will send you the Step 4 questionnaire to finalize and award you 10 service hours
